Gr 3-8-Starting with attractive, clear, close-ups on the covers and catchy opening paragraphs, these biographies are solid, but unexceptional. The clean layout includes plenty of white space around simple, direct text presented in a large font and short sentences and chapters. Subject matter is limited, briefly covering the featured celebrities' paths to stardom from childhood to the present day, but short text boxes add additional information. The profiled personalities might make this set attractive to hi/lo and reluctant readers, with different volumes appealing to different ages. Every spread sports a captioned color photograph, though some are rather grainy.
